President’s Message - Greetings from 210 W. Bluff
Good Bye 2011... Hello 2012!
2011... what a wild and crazy year! Like everyone and everything else, TCAL struggled through physical, economical and emotional ups and downs. Gallery sales were down, but membership support remained steady. Health problems plagued many members and friends. Some recovered and some were laid to rest. I believe that all would agree to being glad to see 2011 safely tucked away in the history books. 2012 brings renewed optimism for a GREAT year. I am proud of the Tyler County Art League for holding on tight and keeping its mission and promise to “Keep the Arts in the Hearts of Tyler County”.
2012 finds TCAL wrapping up some loose ends, such as having the new heating system installed. Installation is scheduled and awaiting the clearing out of “stuff” in the office area, in order for the techs to have access to the system in the roof. Exciting programs for the upcoming Get-To-Gathers are being scheduled. Please let us know if you have a topic you would like us to explore, or know of an interesting guest to add to our calendar. Just leave a message or drop the information by the Gallery. Jane Martin has put together a great line-up for a variety of art classes which will excite all levels of students. Check out the “Events and Classes” page for information.
I wish to remind all of you that March 23-25 will be the Dogwood Time kick-off weekend of “Festival of the Arts”. TCAL neighbor, The Emporium Stage, will be showcasing the production of “The Golden Age of Radio” that weekend. On Saturday, the 24th, TCAL artists will have the opportunity to set up booths and showcase their arts and crafts. It is the time in which visitors can observe artists @ work and enjoy musical entertainment.
See ya @ the Gallery,
Judith

Volunteers Needed
We are going to install the new heater in the Gallery soon and, in order to do that, everything in the office area will need to be moved. This is going to be a rather major project, and a perfect opportunity to re-arrange the space and do something with the floor. So, if you are available to help in any way, please let us know. This sounds like work, but working together ends up being fun! There are also many ways you can help, including financially, since we will need to get supplies.
As always, thanks in advance!

Special Thanks To...
Edwina Landrum, Sharon Ayers, Sam Keith/ExxonMobil Foundation, and Jo Nan Carr/Chevron Humankind for their kind donations. TCAL is largely supported by its members and friends. All donations are greatly appreciated. Keep in mind, since TCAL is a non-profit organization, your donations are tax deductible.
Thanks, also, to Lynn Lewis, Lynnette Brice, Vicki Wood, Tina Reid Duoto and Nancy Bodden, who so graciously gave their time and talent to paint Christmas cypress knees. The project was a great success!
And, of course, thanks to all the docents who keep the doors to the Gallery open!
